http://www.casadekathy.com Mi Casa es tu casa Wed, 11 Jan 2012 01:29:02 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.2.1 http://www.casadekathy.com/lighting-of-christmas-tree/ http://www.casadekathy.com/lighting-of-christmas-tree/#comments Mon, 07 Dec 2009 13:08:32 +0000 admin http://66.147.244.166/~casadeka/?p=298 Saturday night, the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony was held at the Plaza.   The artificial tree is a 20 foot high piece of art.  It is lime green – very pretty.  The City Hall (Alcaldia) and other government buildings on the Plaza are decorated with huge red poinsettias.   Amazing.  There was a parade with children in costumes arriving at the Plaza earlier in the day.  We were treated to a concert from Son de Almendro – we were moving our bodies to salsa and plena and signaling in the true start of the Christmas holiday in Vieques.  More musival events to come: Sat, Dec 19 – Trova Music at the Plaza, Thursday, Dec 31, New Year’s Eve party at the Plaza.
